Odds

Synopsis:

Boniface has always had a way with numbers.  Perhaps inherited from his father, a tax auditor with a nose for fraud.  Perhaps from his mother – an Aries, like himself.

Born on March 21st – the autumn equinox – he’s always felt special.  Lucky.  Chosen in some way.

At 18, he becomes a croupier at the casino.

At 21, a sizzling blonde by the name of Bagryana makes her presence felt at his table.  Repeatedly.

They start an affair.  Turns out she’s the daughter of a crime boss, and is there to launder money.

The day comes, however, when she must end their affair.  The tax office is onto her.  She is being investigated.  By his father, as it turns out.

What are the odds?

She insists that she can seduce his father and make the investigation go away.  He suggests a wager, convinced that she can never win over his father, offering her odds of 8 to 1.

But it appears that his luck has run out, in more than one way.
