The hangman’s table refers to a chart used by hangmen in order to calculate the length of rope needed for a long-drop execution, depending on the weight of the condemned felon.

Within the context of this narrative, however, it has a deeper and, if possible, darker significance.

A dark, almost gothic novel on the ethics of the state-sanctioned taking of a human life.
