Synopsis:
Tired of being used (and misused) as the foil of the Marx Brothers, both on- and off-stage, Margaret Dumont sets out to create a female version of the troupe, which comes to be known as The Dumont Sisters.
Filled with wholly original, hilarious ‘Marx Brothers’ routines, as well as those of the Dumont Sisters, the play operates on a far deeper level in examining the dynamics of sexual politics and the traps of so-called ‘equality’.
Character Breakdown:
The play is a 6-hander: 3 females, 3 males:
GROUCHO MARX
CHICO MARX
HARPO MARX
MARGARET DUMONT
BETTY MARX (“BOSHKE”)
LYDIA
