Rudolf Awakening

Description

Synopsis:

A one-man show in which  Rudolf Vrba (nee Walter Rosenberg), the first man ever to escape from Auschwitz-Birkenau tells his gripping story.

His fate, his manner and his uncompromising stance on moral issues raise the deeply troubling question: Why, having been instrumental in saving the lives of some 200,000 Hungarian Jews, has his name remained relatively unknown?

Character Breakdown:

The play is a one-person show:
RUDOLF VRBA  17 – 82

Production Note:

Prior to the show, front-of-house staff should tally the number of tickets sold, then divide that number into 625.  The quotient, rounded off, will be referred to in the text as ‘Omega’, for which the actor will substitute the relevant figure.

In a sense, this is a companion piece to Ron Elisha’s other play, Inquisition.  Both plays cover the same story, but do so from completely different angles.

Running-time:  60 minutes.

Production History:  Not yet produced.
