Synopsis:
Wili (director), Sally and David (actors) are rehearsing a play about those who hid and those who betrayed Anne Frank and her family during the Second World War.
There are deep discussions about the magnitude of courage it would require in order to undertake such an act of resistance in the face of such overwhelming terror and, on the flip side, the kind of moral vacuum that would allow a person to betray such fugitives and yet sleep at night.
The battle lines are clear – the orientation of the moral compass unassailable.
Unassailable, that is, until the advent of October 7, in which Wili’s niece is taken hostage.
The company is split down the middle.
The tide of opinion within the arts community is very strongly pro-Palestinian. What will it take for the company to resist that tide? And, should they fail to resist, will that not make a mockery of the play which they are bringing to the stage?
