Henry, 49, a lecturer in English, advertises for a research assistant. One of the applicants, Autumn, 21, is the spitting image of his wife at that age. Not only that, but his wife also bears the name of a season – Spring – and the two women share a favourite perfume and a favourite chocolate.
His own marriage to Spring has always been somewhat combative, and he feels that Autumn walking in through his office door is in some way fate giving him a second chance to ‘get things right’.
Life, however, is never that simple.
