Voltaire once said that if God didn’t exist, we would have to have invented him – which was his way of saying that God didn’t in fact exist, without getting himself guillotined.
In ‘Pulpit Fiction’ – a monothespian show in which God comes clean – he takes us through all the ways in which we delude ourselves, ultimately to our own detriment. Not because we are stupid but, on the contrary, because we are far too skilled at sophistry for our own good.
