Prom Night (excerpt)

Synopsis:

Acting under the orders of Special Counsel Kenneth Starr, two FBI prosecutors interrogate Monica Lewinsky in a DC hotel room in an FBI operation code-named Prom Night.

They threaten her with a 27-year jail term for the crimes of perjury and witness-tampering.

She is devastated, distraught, but feels she must protect the President, with whom she had an affair.

She knows he is being deposed in a case involving another woman the following day, and is desperate to let him know that FBI knows about the affair, in order to prevent him from perjuring himself – an impeachable offence.

In a tense, nail-biting, unremitting 95 minute game of cat and mouse, Monica Lewinsky proves herself to have far more spine than her lover who, in the end, betrays her.

Not an uncommon outcome for a prom night.
