Orange Christ

Synopsis:

Satirical drama in which Donald Trump is seen as the new messiah by a woman who goes by the name of Tempest, a schizophrenic who repeatedly goes off her meds.

She is sucked into Donald’s orbit by Cohn – a satanic, John the Baptist-like figure – acting on his advice in setting up a ponzi scheme that generates a significant income.  Riddled with guilt, however, she donates much of the money to Father Marcus, her priest, for use in his parish.  He never questions its source.

Meanwhile, she believes she has been impregnated with the divine seed, but Donald won’t have a bar of it.  He suspects Cohn, who suffers retribution accordingly.

Donald then has Dr Roy, the psychiatrist, lock her up, and goes on to deliver a bizarro-Sermon on the Mount to great acclaim.

The piece dramatises the unnerving similarities between the MAGA playbook and religion.
