Act One, set in 1938, sees Britain’s then PM, Neville Chamberlain, filled with apprehension, about to confront Hitler in Munich.
Together with his wife, Anne, he pens the famous ‘peace for our time’ speech he is to give upon his arrival back in London to a hero’s welcome.
Act Two, set 2 years later during the London Blitz, with Neville nearing death and hallucinating under the influence of narcotics, shows him restaging the confrontation with Hitler in his own mind, the stakes progressively being ratcheted up.
This is a play that will compel you to re-evaluate the men and his position in history.
