Guilt

$9.99

Description

Synopsis:

Jim has been in prison for 14 years for a crime he didn’t commit.

Vanessa, convinced of his innocence, has broadcast a podcast series casting serious doubt on his conviction, but the Crown Prosecutor refuses to reopen the case.

Catelin visits regularly, bringing Jim the little luxuries in life.

Meanwhile, Vanessa is closing in on the killer, whom she believes to be a Catholic priest, Father Spillane.

In a complex web of relationships, each of the players, it seems, has lost their innocence, forcing us to re-evaluate our concept of guilt.

Character Breakdown:

The play is a 5-hander: 3 females, 2 males

CATELIN  17 – 18 and 32 – 34
JAZ  17 – 18 (Chinese)
JIM  18 – 19 and 33 – 35 (Black)
VANESSA   35 – 37
FATHER SPILLANE   25 – 26 and 40 – 42

The action takes place in two time-zones:  Over a 2-year period in the present and over a one-year period 14 years ago.

VANESSA only appears in the present.

JAZ is only alive 14 years ago, but ‘materialises’ in the present.

CATELIN, JIM and SPILLANE should be cast towards the upper end of their age ranges, but should also play their younger selves.

Running-time: 75 minutes.

Production History:  Not yet produced.
