Synopsis:

A Jewish family saga which utilises a picareque structure in order to dip into the lives of one particular family at each of their subsequent funerals.

In particular, we follow the fortunes of Chaim who, as a young man, is seated at the very rear of the chapel, furthest from the coffin at the front of the chapel.  With each successive funeral, he is seated somewhat closer to the ‘action’, until..

But there is a twist.
