Synopsis:
We first see Robert, an embittered writer in his forties, perched on a high-rise balustrade, about to end it all, unaware of the fact that a publisher at that very moment is leaving a message on his phone to the effect that he wishes to publish Robert’s latest book.
Just as he is about to take the leap, his doorbell rings – and keeps ringing, insistently.
He answers the door to find that his upstairs neighbour, Carlotta, urgently needs him to look after her wheelchair-bound daughter, Lucy, for a short while, as she has an important errand to run.
Very reluctantly, he agrees.
Given Lucy’s highly inquisitive nature, they have a surprisingly wide-ranging conversation, through most of which his bitterness shines.
The phone rings. It’s Carlotta, who sounds very agitated.
And then the unthinkable happens, causing Robert’s life to take a turn he could never have imagined.
