Synopsisi:

Three sisters are each at a crisis point in their lives.

ORLA, the eldest, is the responsible, ‘driven’ sister, who has always done the right thing.  She is now seeking tenure at the university, but is hampered by the fact that she is her mother’s main carer (she herself having remained childless and unmarried).

MARCY is the dreamer – the ‘artiste’ – who fancies herself as a singer, but never quite makes it.  Though admiring of her song-writing husband’s talents, she finds herself in a passionate affair with a Frenchman, only to discover that she has a serious illness.

IRIE, the youngest, is a high-achieving executive, who spends her life on planes and in hotels, and who longs for a meaningful relationship, but then finds herself in a quandary when confronted with what might turn into one.

To complicate matters, their mother has a stroke, which necessitates full-time care.

The play, inspired by Chekhov’s ‘Three Sisters’, is a modern riff on thwarted ambition – a dramatic exploration, if you will, of the precept that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
